Position Description: Richmond City Health District is searching for a Public Health Nurse Supervisor to oversee population health initiatives including maternal child health, school health, Latino/a health and case management. The successful candidate is passionate about providing leadership, program development/oversight, and building a culture of community-based, innovative public health nursing practice. The Supervisor also oversees field operations, grant requirements, policies and procedures, data collection and will be encouraged to lead innovative, evidence-based initiatives for health in our City. This role directly supervises multiple public health nurses and subject matter experts by developing, training, and evaluating performance. This position ensures these services are being executed within Virginia Department of Health policy and in alignment with the strategic plan of the health department. This Nurse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of population health programs in order to deliver quality care an ensures services are up to necessary standards and are compliant with current regulations.

Additionally, the Nurse Supervisor partners with colleagues, community-based health care providers, local organizations and community members to build community coalitions, strengthen referral pathways, and prevent working in silos. This position is knowledgeable of social and economic conditions related to public health and the principles and practices of public health nursing. The supervisor can make sound, independent nursing judgments, analyze and problem solve, and establish priorities. Participates in regular trainings, staff meetings and professional development. This position will provide direct care in communities, homes and schools on an as needed basis.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include: excellent communication and people skills, the ability to deal effectively with people in sensitive situations, skilled at conflict resolution, good attention to detail and excellent work habits. The PHN Supervisor must excel as a team player, be able to work independently, and be skilled using a computer for word processing and data entry. Experience with project management, case management development of goals and objectives, and program evaluation needed. Experience working with low-income, disadvantaged or vulnerable populations required. Licensure as a registered nurse in the commonwealth of VA and CPR certified. Direct experience supervising employees and skilled using a computer.

Preferred Qualifications: -BSN -MSN, MPH or masters in a related field -Experience in Public Health/Community based setting -Experience managing grants and budgets -Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of Public Health Nursing -Bilingual English/Spanish - Considerable years of direct experience supervising employees.
