Location: Ithaca,  NY

Position Description: The Cornell MPH Program offers a two-year professional Master's degree at the Ithaca campus, and plan to enroll approximately 40 new students per year (supporting approximately 80 students per year). The MPH Program is a cross-campus graduate program, housed within the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), and operates largely as a self-contained unit. From an operations perspective, building from CVM and Cornell resources, the MPH Program is responsible for: student recruitment and admissions; marketing; student financial aid; student travel awards; student orientation; graduation events; student/staff/faculty professional development; alumni engagement; donor engagement; event planning; and program growth. In addition, MPH Program faculty and staff apply for and manage grants; and plan, develop, and/or host special initiatives linked to the Program's mission and vision. What you will do:

The Assistant Director of Operations & Special Projects will be a member of the Program's executive leadership, and will both advise the MPH Program Director on, and implement, issues related to budgets, policies, and projects to advance the objectives of the Program. The Assistant Director will complement teaching and research initiatives by envisioning, planning, leading, managing, and overseeing staff and projects linked to program administration (budgeting, financial management, human resources, hiring, facilities); program growth and development (alumni engagement, cross-campus networking, communications and social marketing, and special projects); and student services (recruiting and admissions, orientation and graduation, student records, financial support, and wellness).

Additionally, you will:

Administrator the overall vision of the Program through optimizing efficiency of the program infrastructure and ensuring data-informed, innovative best practices, policies, and procedures through effective partnership with an exceptionally devoted and synergistic fellow CVM and University staff and leadership community. Maximize the opportunity to grow and develop the reputation and visibility of the MPH program through leveraging and cultivating meaningful academic and professional networks, developing new initiatives and projects, and organizing on-campus symposia and events. Positively and directly impact the future of disease prevention, health promotion, and improving the quality of life of the planet's population as a whole, locally and globally, by working with the student services team to strategically develop and implement recruitment, admission, continuance, and retention policies and programs supporting our diverse MPH Program student body.

Qualifications: You will be an innovative, creative, forward thinking academic administration professional who thrives on facilitating an academic program's success within a complex academic and enterprise driven organization. You will be the type of person who sees a complex situation as an opportunity to grow rather than an impossible challenge. Ideally, you will have spent time working in a fast paced, high energy, agile environment where you gained extensive academic administration experience working effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders, college and university students, faculty, staff, and leadership. Additionally, you will have:

A Bachelor's degree with 5 years or equivalent of proven progressively responsible and self-directed experience in administrative, coordination, management, and leadership specific to project/program development/management; grant writing and/or fundraising; donor/constituent management; social media promotion. Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead a team of professionals in an exciting and rapidly growing program, including focus on career growth management, performance management, and day-to-day leadership. Lastly, it goes without saying that communication skills are paramount. If you have all those things, great! We have a few more things that we would prefer you to have, but it's ok if you don't.

Master's degree with more than 5 years of experience in program administration, preferably in an academic setting.
