Position Description: The Senior Process Improvement (PI) Manager leads improvement initiatives across the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) aligned with the quality, patient safety and patient experience goals of the health system. The Senior PI Manager utilizes a wide range of improvement tools and methodologies to ensure alignment across sites, implementation and spread of best practices, and deployment of evidence based clinical pathways. The Senior PI Manager plans, manages and executes complex improvement initiatives and evaluates the impact of the improvement efforts in order to achieve the mission and vision of the Health System Chief Medical Officer. The Senior PI Manager acts as a leader in the department, serving as a mentor to junior staff.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Independently leads, designs, manages, and executes improvement initiatives through all project phases; able to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects and proactively identify and mitigate resource constraints and changes in project scope • Develops scope and plan for improvement initiatives, including acquiring stakeholder buy-in and leadership support, and establishing metrics and milestones • Uses project management skills to develop project plan and timeline for improvement projects; effectively tracks deliverables and delegate tasks; coordinates project summary presentations; and maintains oversight of all project related tasks necessary for project success • Utilizes expertise in improvement methodologies to appropriately identify the correct design and approach for initiatives • Provides oversight to MSHS hospitals to facilitate alignment of short and long term goals, program objectives, policies and operating procedures and communication strategies • Ensure the utilization of clinical and administrative data to support the identification of quality issues and improvement opportunities (e.g. outcomes and process metrics), drive prioritization and enhance decision-making and monitoring. Perform ad hoc analyses as needed to support project planning and implementation. • Oversees creation of presentation materials across multiple projects for updates to MSHS Program leadership • Effectively collaborates with stakeholders of all levels of staff, developing trusting working relationships with leadership, physicians, administration, and front line personnel. Considers context when presenting findings and recommendations • Supports the professional development of junior staff, through constructive feedback on project deliverables and as a role model in all project activities, in leadership or supporting roles; Actively identifies opportunities to informally mentor department staff; Evaluates skills and competencies in executing project work and provides timely feedback to guide their professional development

Qualifications: • 7+ years of professional experience (preferably acute care hospital or clinical cross-functional team setting) and/or graduate-level education relevant to healthcare operations, data analysis, strategic planning and process improvement • Demonstrated success in the use of data-driven methodologies, analytics and statistics to meet goals in process improvement initiatives • Certification and/or working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies preferred • Excellent organizational skills, analytical in nature with a curiosity towards solving complex problems, and strong attention to detail • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written • Professional attitude – comfortable working in a corporate setting populated by diverse types of people and able to maintain poise and a sense of humor in stressful situations • Strong computer literacy including intermediate/advanced Excel • Organizes and prioritizes work to ensure focus on high impact/value-added activities. • Consensus builder among teams and cross functional groups with differing objectives and priorities.
