The Georgia Department of Public Health is the lead agency entrusted by the people of the state of Georgia with the ultimate responsibility for the health of communities and the entire population. The agency is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Healthcare Preparedness Planner within the Division of Emergency Preparedness and Response, Healthcare Preparedness Program Section.

Job Responsibilities: The Healthcare Preparedness Planner serves as a liaison to healthcare coalitions and stakeholder organizations regarding all- hazard preparedness activities.

This position will be responsible for assisting the HCCs to facilitate the planning process and will be required to work on a variety of diverse projects and initiatives related to healthcare preparedness. As a member of the Healthcare Preparedness Section, this position performs general and specific planning duties and coordinates with counties, Georgia and other state agencies, volunteer groups, federal agencies and additional resources to remain aware of healthcare preparedness trends and issues.

Specific Job Responsibilities include: Incorporates healthcare coalition planning activities into the agency's overall emergency preparedness planning process. Works with local, regional, state, and federal partners to develop, implement, and evaluate emergency preparedness plans, procedures, protocols, and agreements for responding to incidents of bioterrorism, infectious disease outbreaks, and other public health threats and emergencies. Develops and facilitates planning groups to complete plans related to (but not limited to) crisis standards of care, pediatrics, burn, medical surge, or CBRNE. Works directly with healthcare coalitions to amend response plans based on after-action reports. Ensure consistent engagement with other sections of the Georgia Department of Public Health as well as representatives of other state agencies, and private partnerships related to crisis standards of care. Attends training, as appropriate, to maintain a high level of knowledge regarding public health emergency response planning and preparedness. Is available 24/7 during public health emergency situations. Helps to staff the Emergency Support Function #8 (ESF8) at the State Operations Centers (SOC) or GDPH Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during emergency response incidents and exercise.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Completion of 90 quarter hours (60 semester hours) at an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR One year of experience in a position directly working in public health emergency preparedness, emergency management or disaster operations and planning.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience and knowledge of public health's role in a crisis standard of care, emergency management or healthcare preparedness planning and operations specifically related to disasters. Knowledge of policies and procedure for state and local emergency management or healthcare preparedness. Proven experience in emergency management, public health, crisis standards of care or CBRNE. Prior experience leading multi-disciplinary planning areas. Completion of a master's degree in one of the specialties listed in the above minimum qualifications. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite computer application software. Ability to travel overnight, statewide and regionally, as dictated by the functions of the position and the business needs of the Agency.
