Some of what you'll do: •Work with a culturally diverse population of employees, consumers, educational institutions, government agencies, and community-based coalitions to address health and environmental issues. •Promote and contribute to positive, collaborative departmental relationships based on the Department's organizational values and inclusive decision-making. •Support strategies and services to address health equity concerns. •With the Division Director and managers, participate in a team-based approach to plan, organize, implement and evaluate Division programs and services. •Represent the Department or Division Director on boards, panels, committees, etc., in the community. •Manage, develop, coach and facilitate the work of professional, technical and support personnel to accomplish division objectives. •Use assessment, planning and quality improvement strategies to enhance customer service and improve work-flow efficiencies. •Monitor risk management factors, including resolution and follow-up. •Ensure functional operations with use of quality improvement principles and tools, policy development, strategic planning, employee engagement. •Manage and oversee budget, fees, revenue, contracts and other administrative responsibilities such as purchase orders, timecards and personnel. •Provide ongoing leadership for professional development of staff. •Work with Division Director and other Division leadership to ensure fiscal stewardship and responsibility.

What you bring to the table: •Knowledge of group/organizational dynamic and effective leadership principles; •Knowledge of and skill in managing operations and making systems based enhancements; •Skill and ability in building strong alliances and attempting to find common ground with a wide range of stakeholders; •Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing to include giving public presentations, addressing governing boards and community forums, and compiling written reports and speeches; •Skill in planning and organizing activities to meet established objectives; •Skill in analyzing, recording, and assessing data, i.e. statistical data, budgets, performance reports, etc. utilizing spreadsheet, word processing, database and presentation software as needed. •Knowledge of one or more technical disciplines within EH. •Leadership and/or management experience, preferably but not necessarily in a public agency setting. •Experience with budget processes (fees, grants, contracts), including development and monitoring. •Knowledge of labor practices, including within a represented environment. •Experience w/project management and/or quality improvement (including but not limited to Lean or Six Sigma). •Experienced and effective communicator including public speaking, advanced interpersonal communication skills and strong written communication abilities.

Qualifications: Who should apply:

Persons with a combination of education, training and experience equivalent to Bachelors degree in Public Administration, Public Health, Social Work, Nursing, Environmental Health, Education or Business; and five years of relevant supervisory or managerial experience.
