Position Description: Role and Responsibilities The Executive Director of LHVPN will be a passionate, energetic, dynamic individual committed to social justice and achieving health equity. Providing strategic leadership, the forward-looking leader will effectively guide and implement the organization’s mission, vision, strategy, goals, and objectives with an entrepreneurial approach promoting the long-term sustainability of the agency. As the face of the organization, the Executive Director will set a tone for excellence through effective advocacy, collaboration, fiscal responsibility and administration.

Leadership • Provide day-to-day leadership, oversight and direction to the staff. Lead, coach, develop, motivate and inspire the staff to support our mission and work. • Sustain a positive work environment by maintaining a culture of openness, collaboration and cooperation. • Collaborate with the board in defining and advancing the strategic direction and priorities. Oversee and support the active engagement of board members, funders, and partner organizations. • Work closely and collaboratively with the Board of Directors to continually refresh membership with the skills and values needed and which reflects the communities served by CHRF/LHVPN programs. Ensure that the board is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization/division and all important factors influencing it.

Program Excellence • Hold team accountable to deliver program commitments with programmatic excellence. • Ensure effective systems are in place for rigorous program evaluation to track and evaluate program progress. Administration and Operations • Establish/ensure effective and efficient systems, processes and procedures are in place to deliver on commitments and achieve the agency goals and strategic priorities. • Assure compliance with all applicable contracts, laws and regulations. Submits timely reports and required deliverables to granting and inspecting agencies. • Develop and implement the annual and program budgets, working with the staff, Finance Committee, and board to prepare and monitor budget. Cooperate with external auditors and the Board to ensure appropriate fiscal controls. • Identify and respond to new funding streams and opportunities to support the mission of the agency, including requests for proposals/applications, contractual agreements, fund development and fund raising opportunities.

Communicator/Ambassador • Effectively communicate goals and outcomes to the board, funders, and other stakeholders. • Represents the agency on local, regional, statewide and national coalitions and forums to enhance awareness and support. Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups, government officials and others who can advance the work of CHRF/LHVPN.

Board Development • Support the CHRF Executive Director to develop, maintain, and support a strong board.

Qualifications: Requirements and Qualifications • Master’s degree in public health or related field preferred (College degree with significant senior level management experience considered) • 5+ years senior level management experience in not-for-profit or public sector. • Excellent writing, communication and inter-personal skills. • Content expertise in perinatal, adolescent and community health. Experience in the NYS healthcare transformation initiatives a plus. • Commitment to social justice and achieving health equity. Strong ethics. • A dynamic leader with a successful track record in managing and growing an organization, demonstrating strategic thinking, planning and organizational skills and juggle multiple competing priorities while also having a hands-on approach to getting things done. • A strong focus on planning and developing program objectives, evaluating existing programs, establishing program priorities and developing quality control metrics. • Strong financial acumen. Prior experience managing an operating budget is required. Comfort level making data based decisions and using different types of data effectively to evaluate programs, opportunities, etc. • Experience in applying for, executing and reporting on government grants. • Strong knowledge of human resources management and supervisory skills with the ability to maintain a collaborative, productive climate and confidently motivates, mobilizes and coaches employees. • A wide range of knowledge of the Lower Hudson Valley Counties, its socio- economic profile, government structure and its non-profit community. • Desire to work in an informal but highly energetic, mission driven environment that thrives on entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative engagement. • Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and interests. • Have the ability to travel within region and beyond.

Other Conditions of Employment • A valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation is necessary to fulfill job requirements. • Must have schedule flexibility to include occasional early morning and evening meetings/activities. • Ability to meet the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation: o Walk, bend, kneel, and reach; o Lift 20 – 30 pounds; o Conduct both outdoor and indoor activities, in both warm and cold temperatures.

Organization Description: Working together with its partners The Lower Hudson Valley Perinatal Network (LHVPN) advocates for and educates consumers and professionals about maternal, child and family health. LHVPN also mobilizes the community, to eliminate disparities, and improve the health of women, children and families in New York's Lower Hudson Valley, which includes Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland & Westchester counties. The LHVPN was organized in 2004. In 2010 the LHVPN became a program of the Children's Health and Research Foundation, Inc.
