Position Description: The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Epidemiologist is responsible for activities related to MCH data collection, analysis and interpretation. This includes the preparation, linkage, and analysis of MCH data sets as well as written and oral presentation of results to appropriate stakeholders. This employee will also provide epidemiological and analytic support to the MCH Bureau for the Title V Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) Grant and the MCH Block Grant.

Prepare, analyze, interpret and report epidemiological and health services data related to MCH populations. Respond to data requests. Complete written reports and presentations to communicate findings. Analyze, track and report the Title V MCH Block Grant indicators to the Bureau of Maternal and Child Health staff to increase data-driven decisions and employ evidence-based programmatic efforts. Assist in creation and review of the annual MCH Block Grant progress report and application.

Assist with data activities related to the State/Community Health Assessments and State/Community Health Improvement Plans. Provide data on selected indicators to inform the Title V Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) grant program planning and funding request applications. Provide technical assistance to the SRAE program in assessment of data indicators to determine targeted areas for programmatic efforts.

Other duties as assigned. Complete projects to support the Bureau of Health Improvement and Health Equity, as requested by leadership to support the MCH populations. Participate in webinars related to Health Equity and Health Disparities of the MCH population.

Qualifications: Master's degree in Public Health in epidemiology, biostatistics or a closely related field and relevant working experience. A Doctoral degree in epidemiology, or advanced training in applied epidemiology, such as the Public Health Prevention Specialist Program at CDC may substitute for experience.
