Position Description: The Clinical Research Coordinator will be primarily responsible for providing clinical research support and managing projects in a fast-paced hospital setting. The incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following: Interfacing with research participants and determining eligibility. Assist in the development of recruitment strategies and conduct screening for study participants including interviews, medical record review, and questionnaires. Recruiting and consenting eligible patients. Maintaining and conducting existing protocols aimed to collect data for a longitudinal cohort studies, clinical trials or other prospective/case-control studies. Documenting barriers preventing enrolled patients from returning to care and other outreach efforts. Ensuring compliance with research protocols by reviewing case report forms and auditing source documents. Preparing and monitoring IRB submissions and expenditures and adherence to study budgets. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for general data inquires and analysis for the team as needed, using statistical software. This individual will determine and utilize appropriate statistical methods to evaluate and interpret data. Job Functions Function 1 (40%): Maintain existing protocols by performing all necessary study tasks for clinical trial including analyses. Independently manage the research administration activities associated with the conduct of clinical research. This includes but is not limited to education, orientation, data summaries and grant reports. Function 2 (40%): Interface with research participants and performing related tasks, such as identifying potential participants, consenting participants, assisting with scheduling clinic appointments, and documenting barriers to retention, and conducting follow-ups. Function 3 (20%): Disseminate information through biostatistical analyses, reports, summaries, presentations, and publications Other Functions: Support recruiting and retention for other infectious disease studies occurring at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. Manage or assist with regulatory submissions and the development/ submission of grant proposals and protocols, including content revisions, protocol amendments and continuing review applications to Emory IRB and the VA R&D Committee.

Qualifications: Minimum Requirements Education: Master’s degree in science, public health or business is preferred. Bachelor's degree in science, public health or business is required. Experience: 1 year of research administration experience with Master’s degree. 2-3+ years of research administration experience with Bachelor’s degree. Specific Skills: High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High level of use and comfort with MS Office products and other technological platforms. Study design, database management (SAS, STATA, R), coordinating projects, and IRB-related issues. The successful incumbent will have proficiency all MS Office applications (Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Friendly and people-oriented to ensure that the veteran population is engaged in a positive experience. Demonstrated ability to achieve/exceed time-bound goals in both an independent and team environment. Special Knowledge, Licenses, Etc.: Certified Research Associate (CRA) or Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) preferred.
