Position Description: The Department is currently recruiting a full-time (12-month) faculty member, to serve as a Visiting Lecturer. The primary responsibility is teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level. In addition, the Visiting Lecturer will be responsible for advising and mentoring students in the department of epidemiology. It is further anticipated the Visiting Lecturer will support research in collaboration with colleagues in the department and school. This position will further represent the department and school on various school, campus, and external committees relevant to the BSPH and MPH programs. Moreover, it is expected that the Visiting Lecturer will work closely with other departments in the school, including other lecturers and those responsible for student advising, recruitment, general marketing, and other student services. Other service activities will include high school visits and guest lectures to promote department and school programs.

Qualifications: o Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, data science, or biomedical informatics. o Experience working in a public health organization in an epidemiology-related role, such as field epidemiologist, nurse epidemiologist, or program analyst. o Teaching experience in public health or related fields at an undergraduate, graduate, or professional level. o Experience using a learning management system (eg., Canvas) desired. o Ability, desire, and experience in working with undergraduate students including assisting with professional development, internship and job placements. o Experience assisting with or leading a research study, including but not limited to field epidemiology, systematic reviews, observational cohort studies, or pragmatic trials. o Knowledge of, or ability to develop, connections to the public health practice community.

Organization Description: The mission of FSPH is to cultivate innovative, interdisciplinary, community engaged education, research and service and prepare leaders in public health and health care. Health is defined as the capacity to develop full human potential, not simply the absence of disease. In promoting the health of communities, FSPH emphasizes the prevention of disease and injury and recognizes the interconnectedness of the physical environment and ecosystem to the health of the community. Established in 2012, FSPH is fully accredited by CEPH and offers three PhD programs, an MPH with five concentrations, an MHA program, several graduate degrees, and BS degrees in Health Services Management and Public Health. Prior to 2012, the School was a department within the IU School of Medicine. Long-standing collaborations are in place with key community entities, including the Indiana State Health Department, the Marion County Public Health Department, the Regenstrief Institute, and a wide variety of community organizations and industry partners. The Department of Epidemiology possesses a strong track record in NIH-funded research as well as extramural research funding from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Indiana State Department of Health, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. The department’s faculty are national and international experts in cancer, genetics, coronary heart disease, diabetes, nutrition, public health informatics, and public health practice.
