Position Description: Do you have a passion for public health in relation to prevention of childhood lead paint poisoning in the State of Maine? MCD Public Health, a division of Medical Care Development, Inc., a non-profit health services organization in collaboration with Healthy Communities of the Capital Area (HCCA), is accepting applications for a Part Time Project Coordinator to oversee the Lead Poisoning Prevention Program. This position is located at the HCCA office in Gardiner and is a grant-funded position with - -potential for renewal. This 16 hour per week position is not eligible for MCD’s be benefit package.

The Lead Poisoning Prevention (LPP) Coordinator works in the communities of Augusta and Gardiner to reduce paint-related lead poisoning in infants and children related to housing/buildings built prior to 1978. Augusta/Gardiner is one of five high risk areas in the state for lead poisoning. The Maine CDC Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Unit supports the work to convene a community coalition of stakeholders, educate tenants and residents, engage medical practitioners and parents in increased testing, and recruiting owners, managers, and contractors to gain skills to maintain lead-safe housing. The LPP C Coordinator is a member of the prevention t team at Healthy Communities of the Capital A Area (HCCA).

Qualifications: Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

Required: • Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health, Public Health, Social Services, or related field preferred; however, equivalent related work experience may be considered. Experience of 2-3 years of community e engagement preferred, but not required. • Excellent interpersonal skills, a ability to communicate effectively both o orally and in writing and be able to e establish and maintain effective working r relationships. • Strong organizational skills and the f flexibility and ability to manage time and m multiple tasks with little supervision. • Knowledge of the communities of A Augusta and Gardiner, willingness and a ability to link with new people. • Engaging and facilitating a co coalition, working with diverse community me members, housing providers, municipal code en enforcement officers and others who provide se services and support to community members wh who live in housing with risk for lead dust ex exposure. Acceptance of and good working re relationships with diverse community members. o Proficient in multiple modes of c communication including in person. • Proficiency with all current M Microsoft Office programs as well as any o other software programs, online c communication platforms, and other t technology necessary to perform the job. • Basic software skills and internet r research abilities. Proficient with m multiple social media platforms. • Competencies among successful a applicant are expected to be consistent with t those identified by the Public Health F Foundation Council on Linkages as Level II.
