Position Description: The candidate will conduct data analyses using SAS, under the guidance of the PI and other investigators, and perform administrative tasks related to operations for studies assessing the health effects of air pollution exposure with a focus on various lung diseases. He/she will coordinate study meetings and data analyses with off-site investigators and fellows, including organizing study meetings, both in person and by phone. He/she will also prepare and monitor IRB submissions and audits, maintain approvals, and assist with the design of new projects, abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts. Other responsibilities, with supervision, include conducting data cleaning and management of databases, as well as organizing research results and assisting with writing reports.

This is a 2-year term position with the possibility of renewal based on available funding and job performance.

Qualifications: MPH/MS in Public Health, Epidemiology, or an equivalent field is preferred. The candidate must have an understanding of biostatistics and working knowledge of SAS. Ability to collect, organize and summarize data using a variety of scientific, word processing, spreadsheet or statistical software, assist in the design of tasks and experiments, and perform clerical duties incidental to research tasks. Excellent organizational skills; ability to multitask; superior interpersonal skills.

As a teaching facility, the VA Boston Healthcare System provides a full range of services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research, offering specialized training to over 1,100 Residents and fellows, 250 medical students, and 400 students in various other areas of clinical practice including psychology, optometry, pharmacy, etc. Additionally, VABHS has affiliations with 7 other major medical facilities in the greater Boston area.
