Position Description: This position provides data management and analysis support to the Substance Use Program at the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. The person filling this position is responsible for data management and analysis of drug related surveillance data in Philadelphia. This individual will also be responsible for creating and updating both internal and external reports. The person filling this position will work very closely with staff within the Division of Disease Control, the Medical Examiner’s Office, the Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Services, and with healthcare providers associated with all major Philadelphia area hospital emergency departments. Responsibilities/Duties • Abstract, analyze, and clean data related to drug use in Philadelphia • Ensure accuracy of data collected using various tracking systems. • Develop, refine, and oversee production of regular reports both in house and externally. • Participate in Emergency Preparedness drills, exercises, and trainings for the Health Department, as needed.

Qualifications: • Completion of a bachelor’s degree preferably in public health, statistics, or a social science field AND At least one (1) year of full-time work experience. • Knowledge of substance use and drug related terminology • Experience using statistical software such as SAS or R is preferred. • Training or experience with mapping software (ArcGIS preferred) is preferred. • Ability to analyze data, write project proposals, and technical reports. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Ability to analyze and think critically to apply reasonable judgment and problem- solving skills. • Excellent organizational skills. • Ability to work as part of a team, to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, and to work independently in a high- pressure environment. • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with persons contacted in the course of work. • Sensitivity to and experience working with ethnically, culturally and sexually diverse individuals, communities, agencies and organizations.
