Purpose: This position functions as a Laboratory Information Systems Analyst in the Laboratory Systems Section of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Bureau of Laboratories (MDHHS BOL). The individual in this position will be an essential member of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) team and will significantly contribute to the development, support, and implementation of two LIMS at the BOL. Both LIMS application support the laboratory’s business processes inc including specimen accessioning, sample tra tracking, inventory control, laboratory rep reporting, statistical analysis, and ele electronic public health reporting. Duties and Responsibilities: • General end user IT support, e.g. n new printer installs, monitor set up, s scanner troubleshooting, etc. • Advise and assist with IT workflows ( (e.g. FTPs, cloud services, reserve IP m mapping for firewalled instruments) as new p processes are considered for both BOL D Divisions. • Enhance existing systems and work p processes within two BOL LIMS applications, p primarily focusing on the Newborn Screening L LIMS first. • Support current operations to ensure t that laboratory testing and reporting o operate effectively. • Create management reports and q queries of the database as requested. • Support, test, and document software u upgrades. • Interact as needed with vendor and S State of Michigan IT staff. • Advise and assist DTMB DBAs with the n necessary management of BOL servers. • Report progress at weekly meetings. • Maintain a positive, strong, c credible, professional, and interpersonal r relationship with all parties relevant of M MDHHS/MPHI projects and represent the best i interest of MDHHS/MPHI at all times. • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements: Education: A bachelor’s degree in computer scien science preferred or equivalent combination of ed of education and work experience. Experience: Experience or familiarity with Cry Crystal Reports, SQL, JAVA Script or other scr scripting language strongly preferred, .NET Fra Framework, C# or other procedural pro programming language preferred. Experience in in laboratory testing or laboratory inf information systems is preferred.
