Position Description: Colorectal Cancer Prevention Intern The Colorectal Cancer Alliance seeks a part- time (24-32 hours/week), paid intern to assist our growing organization in fulfilling its mission. The Colorectal Cancer Prevention Intern will work with the Vice President, Prevention in assisting with submitting grant applications, planning awareness events, conducting colorectal cancer research, engaging interested stakeholders, and other tasks in an effort to improve prevention efforts in Philadelphia. The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a national organization committed to ending colorectal cancer within our lifetime. We help patients and families, survivors and caregivers, navigate their diagnosis and treatment, connecting them with those who can share experiences and knowledge, address concerns, and identify resources to meet their needs. We partner with healthcare professionals and social influencers to raise awareness of preventative screening, and we collaborate with researchers to better understand the disease and fund critical research. Our efforts are urgent, effective and efficient because we believe that tomorrow can’t wait. Responsibilities Conducts research to support understanding of effective colorectal cancer prevention efforts. Participates in community events to educate and provide awareness about colorectal cancer prevention and screening. Meets with potential community volunteers to support community engagement in colorectal cancer awareness efforts. Identifies and researches potential donors to support funding of our community efforts. Assists in the preparation of applications to foundations and other organizations to raise funds for our Philadelphia-based outreach programs Schedules telephonic and in-person meetings with potential stakeholders, including Philadelphia-based healthcare organizations, community representatives, and business leaders. Plans events, including: fundraising, educational, community-based, healthcare professional, and others. Manages logistics required to plan events. Performs all other duties as required. Location Must live in Greater Philadelphia, PA Work from home Position Type Part-time: Must be available for between 24- 32 hours/week. Qualifications: Qualifications This position is available as a 6-month internship with a strong preference for someone who can commit to the position for 12 months. B.A./B.S. degree required (graduate degree or seeking graduate degree such as MPH strongly preferred) Interest and experience in nonprofit, community, or public health outreach desired. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), Google Suite and Social Networking Platforms. Excellent writing and organizational skills. Ability to work independently, exercise professional judgment and discretion. Team-oriented, flexible, positive, personable, and eager to learn.
