Position Description: his position will serve as data manager for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (BCCCP). The position of the Social Research Specialist I will be responsible for developing, maintaining, analyzing and reporting program information from data elements collected from local service providers. The position will ensure that all data submitted from local service providers is complete and accurate. Position will also provide training on HIS database, Local Health Department Health System Analysis process, form usage and understanding of reports, as well as track and provide technical assistance to local service providers as needed. The position will also develop and prepare for distribution all routine monthly data reports from program to CDC local service providers. This position is responsible for providing training and information to local contractors on data collection and data requirements of the program; prepare, edit and format MDE submittals to CDC and internal users; collaborate with data/evaluation staff; as well as prepare publications, materials, and analysis of data and interpretation of results.

Qualifications: Experience with creating and/or maintaining databases, tracking and investigating methods for problems with data such as identifying missing information, duplication of records, and any application problems as well as the presentation of identified findings Analyze statistical data and present/communicate findings clearly and concisely in written, oral and graphic form; to operate computer software programs and use computers, peripheral devices, and data graphics Critical thinking skills are required to solve complex problems Demonstrated ability to gather relevant information, synthesize, report and make recommendations based on findings Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access and SAS programming Identification of relevant trends through qualitative and quantitative analysis Prepare publications, materials, and analysis of data and interpretation of results Knowledge of Chronic Disease epidemiology
