Position Description: Do you have a passion for public health in relation to suicide prevention? Medical Care Development, Inc. (MCD), a non-profit public health services organization is seeking a talented professional to serve as the Project Coordinator to provide staff support for the Maine Suicide Prevention Program within Maine CDC, Division of Disease Prevention (DDP). The Project Coordinator will be responsible for program implementation of the Cooperative Agreement to Implement the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention Project, through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This individual will report directly to the Program Manager and work at the Maine CDC Key Bank Building located in Augusta with the DDP staff. This position requires a person with a keen attention to detail and skills to conduct routine follow up on project activities. The Project Coordinator is a full-time, 40-hour per week position that is eligible for MCD hour per week position that is eligible for MCD’s benefit package. This position is grant-supported through September 30, 2020 an and may be eligible for renewal based on av availability of funding.

This position will work directly with the Program Manager on the daily operations of the project to carry out the scope of work. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the work plan and ensuring grant deliverables are met in a timely manner. This includes managing contracts statewide, tracking invoices, and coordinating and conducting internal and external meetings to plan and implement project activities. This person will be responsible for facilitating technical assistance to partners and providing resources and tools as necessary. The Project Coordinator will oversee the evaluation efforts to ensure local evaluation deliverables are being met and will be responsible for maintaining, collecting, and submitting data into federal databases from statewide partners and developing or adapting data tools, if necessary. This person will work with partners to ensure the timely and accurate collection of data and will lead efforts in writing and disseminating project reports and work plans for SAMHSA. The Project Coordinator will oversee activities to strengthen collaborations and shared protocols among hospitals, emergency rooms, and regional crisis service providers. This position will interact with key internal and external stakeholders statewide and statewide meetings, as necessary.

Qualifications: Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

• This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in social work, education, social sciences, community health, public health or related health field. Applicants should have a combination of six (6) years of education, training and/or experience in planning, program development, coordination and implementation in health, public health, or a related health field. Applicants with a master’s degree in public health or a r related field is a plus. Competencies among s successful candidates are to be consistent w with those identified by the Public Health F Foundation Council on Linkages as Level II. • Ability to work collaboratively with d diverse project partners, consumers, and p providers of health care. • Ability to work independently. • Ability to communicate p professionally both verbally and in writing. • Knowledge and skill in evaluation m methods including developing measures, c collecting, analyzing and submitting q qualitative and quantitative data, as a appropriate. • Ability to plan, coordinate, i implement, and manage multiple activities at o once. • Ability to gather, synthesize, and s summarize a variety of information from many s sources. • Ability and skill to organize and f facilitate meetings in data collection and p progress of deliverables. • Knowledge of contract and grant m management. • Experience developing communication m materials, including flyers, brochures, b booklets, etc.
