Position Description: Do you have experience planning and conducting public health program evaluation activities? Do you have experience with qualitative and quantitative data techniques? The Utah Department of Health's Cancer Genomics Program seeks you to serve as Epidemiologist and Program Evaluator. The Utah Cancer Genomics Program partners with a variety of organizations to achieve outcomes increasing the public understanding of family health history and facilitate the appropriate use of clinical genetics services through public health interventions. By working with program staff and partners to complete necessary surveillance, evaluation, and strategic planning activities you will facilitate program implementation, policy, and systems change.

Principal Duties As the Epidemiologist and Program Evaluator, you will: Develop and implement a multi-year evaluation plan. Access and utilize a variety of data sources for program evaluation and chronic disease surveillance activities. Advise program managers to facilitate data-driven decision making. Work with program staff and stakeholders to develop and implement process and outcome evaluation related to partnerships, surveillance, and interventions. Assist in identifying potential data sources and collecting, analyzing, and disseminating data for surveillance and evaluation, including performance measures related to interventions and program activities. Develop and conduct surveys, key informant interviews, and focus groups as appropriate. Provide technical assistance to program staff and contractors on data collection methods, including focus groups and surveys. Facilitate the use of data to make recommendations to improve existing programs and utilization of resources. Assist with grant applications and progress reporting to the CDC. Prepare and conduct training and data presentations for diverse audiences. Draft technical reports, articles or related material, including evaluation and surveillance reports. Provide consultation, make recommendations, and assist in program decision-making. Participate in workgroups and facilitates meetings.

Qualifications: The Ideal Candidate Has a Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Evaluation, Statistics, or Public Administration. Has experience with qualitative and quantitative data techniques. Has experience writing technical or scientific reports, and documents. Has at least 1 year of experience planning and conducting program evaluation activities. Has experience public speaking. Has experience using technical software, e.g., SAS or R, ArcGIS, Qualtrics, MS Excel.
