JOB TITLE:  Epidemiologist II

TRAVEL:  As required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position

IHRC, Inc. provides scientific, information management, management consulting, bioinformatics, and administrative program support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other Federal and private sector clients.  The successful candidate will be a full-time employee of IHRC, Inc., and will be assigned to the Respiratory Viruses Branch (RVB), Division of Viral Diseases (DVD), National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), at the CDC, 1600 Clifton Road, Atlanta, GA, to provide scientific and technical support for the RVB.

The Epidemiologist II will provide epidemiological support services for Respiratory Viruses Branch (RVB) initiatives.


  • Become familiar with protocols and provide input into the development and revision of data collection forms;
  • Analyze study or project implementation, measure the outcomes of projects;
  • Generate tables and figures summarizing epidemiologic analyses;
  • Participate in the design and implementation of research and epidemiologic studies. This may include field/site visits, patient/subject enrollment and interviews, database creation, data entry, and management, and other tasks crucial to the success of the study;
  • Respond to inquiries from the public and/or CDC staff/personnel;
  • Prepare reports using the most current data and in the format directed by the COR.
  • Communicate with staff at CDC and those at remote sites as needed to ensure compliance with protocol, secure data transfer and processing;
  • Communicate information for technical and other study information/requirements in a clear manner to and between project site staff, CDC technical support staff, statisticians, and epidemiologists;
  • Manage or perform routine functions in epidemiologic databases. Prepare, summarize, and present data in tables, figures, and graphs;
  • Prepare written technical reports and/or reports for publication. Participate in writing comprehensive statistical and analytic reports;
  • Produce work products using software applications most commonly used at CDC including SAS and Access;
  • Present epidemiologic analyses;
  • Attend meetings when necessary to provide information on current activities or to become familiar with current activities;
  • Respond to inquiries from the COR or partners within 2 hours after receipt.



Education and Experience:

  • Master’s in Public Health (MPH) degree in epidemiology from an accredited college or university


  • Two years of experience in providing epidemiologic support
  • Strong understanding of design and implementation of research and epidemiologic studies
  • Organizational skills demonstrating high attention to detail and the ability to organize multiple priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills required for team work and interaction with people across CDC and with external partners
  • Strong knowledge of SAS, SPSS, Stata, or other statistical software
  • Proficiency in writing comprehensive statistical and analytical reports


  • Experience in conducting research on epidemiology of infectious diseases

Language Skills:

  • The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English  


  • Must be United States citizen or permanent resident or have authorization for employment in the United States
