Position Description: Can't wait to do your next small-area analysis? Eager to advance your work in public health informatics? This position within Assessment, Planning & Development will provide advanced epidemiological analysis, support, assessment and evaluation for multiple Health Department programs, including health equity and environmental public health.

Some of what you'll do: •Identify epidemiologically important problems in defined target populations; conduct analyses of the health of communities within Pierce County. •Design and develop studies of important public health problems. •Generate descriptive and analytic data to inform public health approaches. •Design and develop investigations of important public health problems. •Provide data to guide development of evidence-based interventions and disease prevention and control measures. •Provide data to community partners to support epidemiologic investigations. •Work with Health Department staff to ensure valid and consistent data analysis and reporting. •Provide staff training to improve data collection, management and analysis skills. •Prepare and present results of epidemiologic studies and program evaluation results to community groups, professional forums, internal staff and in appropriate peer- reviewed journals. •May supervise related staff. •Assist in the development of data handling policies and guidelines for Health Department use.

Qualifications: A Master's degree in a health care-related field with core training that includes intermediate to advanced epidemiologic methods, inferential statistics and design methods, a PHD in Epidemiology, Public Health, or related field can substitute for two years experience; and minimum of four years' experience in public health and/or community-based health or medical care; working experience in communicable disease control desirable; working experience with non-medically based epidemiologic problems essential; demonstrated ability to work in a team-based, applied research setting.

Desired •PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics or related field. •Experience with SPSS, R and/or SAS.
