Position Description: The Department of Health Behavior, in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, invites applications for 1-2 fixed-term faculty positions as a Research Assistant Professor. The primary focus of these positions is on global health with an emphasis on community- or clinic-based intervention research in low- and middle-income countries. Exemplary candidates with a focus on community health in domestic settings will also be considered. Teaching experience, particularly with undergraduate behavioral science classes focused on population health, is a strength.

Applicants should have external research funding that will support them for at least two years from the start of their position. Qualifications: The applicant must have a doctorate (PhD, ScD, or DrPH) in public health, public policy, social and behavioral science, or related field. Applicants must have a strong publication record and evidence of potential for developing a research program supported by external funding.

Organization Description: Faculty of the Department develop, implement, and evaluate health behavior interventions among diverse populations and across diverse setting in the US and globally. A range of quantitative and qualitative research methods are represented in the work of the Department’s faculty. Training programs lead to MPH, MSPH, and PhD degrees and prepare students for careers in public health research, teaching, administration, and practice. Across all these areas the Department is committed to research and practice that advances social justice and especially seeks candidates who will add to the diversity of its faculty.
