Position Description: The Montana Communicable Disease Epidemiology Section is hiring two Epidemiologists. The Surveillance Epidemiologist is responsible for maintaining the Montana National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) Base System (NBS), including electronic lab reporting. The Healthcare- Associated Infections (HAI) and Syndromic Surveillance Epidemiologist is responsible for statewide coordination of HAI surveillance, reporting, and investigation activities, as well as maintaining the state syndromic surveillance system.

Responsibilities include: 1) Analyze surveillance data such as health indicators, risk factors, and disease surveillance information; 2) Maintain state surveillance systems, including electronic lab reporting and database management; 3) Design, coordinate, and manage special surveillance during emerging disease events; 4) Develop and conduct various trainings related to epidemiological or program evaluation issues; and 5) Design and conduct program evaluations.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, or a closely related degree.
