Position Description: The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community.  These responsibilities generally include: advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions. The successful candidate will be committed to the academic success of all of our students and to an environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates diversity and differences. To this end, the successful candidate will work effectively, respectfully, and collaboratively in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings. In addition, the successful candidate will be ready to join faculty, staff, students, and administrators in our University’s shared commitment to the principles of engagement, service, and the public good.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: 1) An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in a public health health field or related discipline from an accredited institution (or equivalent) is required at the time of application. Candidates with a doctorate in a related discipline must possess a substantial record of teaching and research in public health. 2) Substantial evidence of successful teaching experience in public health courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels.    3) Substantial evidence of scholarly publications and a sustained research program in public health.    Preferred Qualifications: 1) Evidence of successful teaching experiences in the area of health services, policy and/or management/administration 2) Demonstrated research productivity on the health and healthcare of diverse, urban populations. 3) Evidence of grant-funded research or projects. 4) Documented experience with community engagement and/or service learning. 5) Evidence of service in professional or organizations and associations. 6) Demonstrated experience in working with students on research projects, including theses. 7) Evidence of MCHES and/or CPH certification.

Organization Description: The Department of Public Health has over 700 undergraduate majors and graduate students. It offers a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health and an MPH in Urban Public Health.
