Position Description: Oversees interviews, data collection, and HIV testing as part of the National HIV Behavioral Surveillance (NHBS) project to assist in determining public health problems pertinent to those at high-risk of becoming infected with HIV. This position conducts epidemiological investigations by assisting with participant recruitment, interviewing, and HIV testing, as needed. Serves as a recognized public health consultant on NHBS-related issues, including providing technical assistance, as needed, to requesting stakeholders on the application of advanced scientific and technical NHBS methods and practices. Coordinates and conducts pre-implementation and ongoing trainings for project staff. Ensures adequate preparations, including supplies, materials, and equipment for recruitment events. Manages operations and data collection at recruitment events and/or sites. Coordinates ongoing formative research efforts and implements changes based upon findings. Reviews, tabulates, and reconciles forms and logs used in the field. Supervises entry of program information into required databases, reviews data errors, identifies issues of concern, and implements changes for improvement. Ensures that data is of consistent high quality by training staff on protocols and standards.

Qualifications: Degree in public health, health education and/or health related field preferred. Two (2) years of practical public health experience with progressive supervisory responsibility. Master’s degree preferred.

Thorough knowledge of HIV/AIDS surveillance and disease reporting regulations and procedures.

Considerable knowledge of communities identified as being at high risk for HIV infection.

Effective communication, leadership, interpersonal, problem solving, and decision-making skills

Ability to collaborate with colleagues, management, and others

Ability to analyze HIV epidemiological data

Relevant experience and training

Some HIV field experience

Must have personal transportation and a valid Driver’s License
