Position Description: Responsibilities The Program Research Specialist III (PRS III) will be responsible for data management, analysis and reporting activities for the Emerging Infections Program (EIP) in the Bureau of Communicable Disease Control. Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to Pertussis, Influenza/RSV and Healthcare-associated infections. The incumbent will coordinate record linkage projects involving EIP surveillance data and secondary data sources; conduct geocoding and geospatial analysis for EIP components; contribute to implementation and data management of CDC-funded EIP projects to promote applied research; and perform other appropriate related duties.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, Health Informatics, Public Health or a closely related field including Biology and three years of research experience in the collection and evaluation of data; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of surveillance systems, preferably public health/epidemiology systems. Experience in communicable disease including surveillance. Experience with SAS, ArcGIS, and Microsoft software (Access, Excel). Experience using REDCap. Experience working with large datasets, including hospital discharge data, vital records and/or census data. Experience with human subjects research and study administration. Experience with manuscript preparation, document and/or report preparation. Experience with public speaking.
