Position Description: The incumbent provides a high level of collaboration with multiple partners to develop and promote content and messaging for the Wisconsin Environmental Public Health Tracking (Tracking) Program. The incumbent works with program staff to develop and manage content for display on the Tracking public portal. The incumbent is responsible for creating branded materials for outreach and dissemination of Tracking resources. In addition, the incumbent serves as lead for interactions with the Tracking Technical Advisory Group (TAG), including scheduling and facilitating meetings, formulating agendas, and communicating program responses to TAG guidance. As a part of BEOH, the incumbent will promote program linkages with national, state, regional, and local organizations and groups; contribute to BEOH efforts on Division-wide initiatives; and support BEOH outbreaks or other events requiring health education materials and communications.

Primary duties of this position include: 1) maintaining, updating, and implementing Tracking Program communications and partnership plans; 2) developing and disseminating fact sheets, county environmental health profiles, listserv messages, newsletters, public service announcements, posters, presentations, and other materials related to program initiatives using plain language and clear communication principles; 3) developing social media messages for local public health and partners; 4) organizing and updating content on the Wisconsin tracking data portal and website within the DHS webpage; 5) developing success stories for tracking mini-grantee projects; 6) building capacity for local public health agencies, governmental and non-governmental organizations to use tracking data; 7) representing the Wisconsin Tracking program on relevant national tracking program workgroups; 8) developing communications and education content for tracking grant applications and progress reports; 9) leading program interactions with TAG; and 10) providing communications consultation and technical assistance to the section, bureau, and division as needed.

Qualifications: Minimally qualified candidates will have:

Experience developing and implementing communication plans related to public health or healthcare.

Experience developing communication and education materials (e.g., fact sheets, press releases, social media messages, presentations, etc.) using Microsoft Office suite, Canva or other design software.

Experience creating and maintaining webpages (e.g., reviewing web analytics, conducting user testing, etc.) using Drupal, Google Analytics or other technical tools.

Experience delivering trainings including in-person present person presentations and webinars.

Experience providing consultation or technical assistance to individuals relating to health education.

Experience facilitating or leading work groups (e.g., recruiting members, coordinating logistics, etc.).

Ability to use clear communication, plain language, and data visualization principles and best practices.

Ability to work collaboratively with internal or external stakeholders on contentious issues or topics.

Effective communication skills.

In addition, well-qualified candidates will have:

Experience conducting a communications needs assessment and applying results to design and implement projects.

Education in any of the following: environmental science, social sciences, chronic disease prevention, health education, or communications.
