Position Description: We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible person to help manage and implement public health research with our team and external partners. The Manager will play a key oversight role in the Surveillance for Enteric Fever in Asia Project (SEAP), an established surveillance network that systematically collects data on the clinical and community burden of enteric fever. The Manager will ensure protocol compliance through site monitoring and data quality control activities and be responsible for regular reporting to the funder. As needed, the Manager will also participate in the development of new protocol and project implementation plans. The ideal candidate has the ability to think strategically, toggle between being part of a dynamic team and working independently, design and implement epidemiological research protocols, conduct data analyses and communicate results to a variety of audiences. The candidate must be comfortable traveling internationally in typhoid endemic countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan.

Responsibilities:

Project Management • Provide project oversight, problem-solving and coordination of all study-related activities • Develop and revise study protocols and standard operating procedures, and data collection tools, as needed • Lead bi-monthly conference calls with site project coordinators and contribute to monthly principal investigator calls • Lead site monitoring visits, including logistics, to ensure study objectives are met; prepare site monitoring reports, including recommendations to improve study adherence • Assist with training/orientation of field staff on study related activities, as needed • Coordinate dissemination of study results through meetings and in peer- reviewed publications

Data Quality Monitoring • Review incoming data for quality and completeness • Identify data errors and communicate with site research staff for reconciliation • Implement and optimize regular reliability assessment and quality control procedures for data collection and data entry • Provide oversight for development and maintenance of study databases • Conduct statistical analyses (SAS or R)

Grants/Contracts Management • Contribute to writing grant proposals to build the project portfolio • Assist in managing annual progress and financial reporting on grant outcomes and milestones • Assist in managing sub-contracting and budget management with research partners • Prepare monthly activity summaries for funder • Other related duties, as assigned

Qualifications: • Master’s degree in Public Health or other health related field, doctorate preferred • 7+ years relevant experience, preferably in the field of epidemiology/public health • Experience with project management with large, international projects, including strong skills in coordination, communication and documentation • Experience with data collection and management • Experience specific to vaccine preventable infectious diseases • International field research experience desired • Strong skills using statistical tools and database software (SAS, Stata, R or other similar software) • Capacity for financial/budget support • Strong attention to detail, ability to manage complex tasks and track deliverables • Highly organized, flexible, dependable and able to prioritize competing demands in order to meet deadlines • Problem-solver; ability to find solutions to complex research challenges • Strong interpersonal skills; excellent at working closely with others over geographical distance • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment • Excellent communication skills • Capacity for people management • Superior service orientation • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
