Position Description: Revised ad: Roanoke College invites applications for a full-time appointment in Public Health Studies in the Department of Sociology, at the rank of Lecturer, beginning in August 2020. This is a non-tenure-track position which meets an ongoing staffing need with the expectation of renewal. Teaching responsibilities are divided between introductory and upper- level courses and include participation in the college’s general education program. The teaching load is 7 courses. The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the College’s academic programs through community engagement, service learning activities, innovative learning designs, and providing students with experiential learning opportunities.

Qualifications: Applicants should have a Master’s Degree (or higher) in Public Health, or will have such degree by the start of the semester in which the position begins. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach classes in epidemiology, social determinants of health, maternal and child health, and community health. Background in and ability to teach other general areas of public health are preferred.
