Position Description: The complex and changing nature of the opioid overdose epidemic highlights the need for an interdisciplinary, comprehensive, and cohesive public health approach. The Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) award integrates work funded through three previous CDC funding opportunities: Prescription Drug Overdose Prevention for States, Data Driven Prevention Initiative and Enhanced State Surveillance of Opioid- Involved Morbidity and Mortality). It focuses on increasing comprehensiveness and timeliness of surveillance data, building state and local capacity for public health programs determined to be promising based on research evidence, making prescription drug monitoring programs (PDMPs) easier to use and access, and working with health systems, insurers, and communities to improve opioid prescribing, while also focusing on linkages to care and other areas of innovation supported by evidence- based practice. OD2A funds are awarded to state, territory, and local health departments. OD2A is funded and managed out of the Division of Overdose Prevention (DOP) at the CDC. CDC sets the overall program direction and provides management of the OD2A cooperative agreement. Included in CDC’s management of the OD2A cooperative agreement is the provision of guidance and technical assistance to the 66 funded recipients. CDC seeks to deliver comprehensive technical assistance and training, both to recipients and CDC staff, in a strategic, systematic and coordinated manner that supports the successful implementation and evaluation of surveillance and prevention activities within OD2A. In order to support CDC in these efforts, CDC Foundation seeks a full-time Public Health Practice Coordinator to support the work of the CDC OD2A Technical Assistance (TA) Coordinator. This position will be responsible for working directly with the OD2A TA coordinator, CDC OD2A program staff and designees, and recipients (as needed) to ensure both responsive and proactive technical assistance and training are delivered in support of OD2A. Ideally, the Public Health Practice Coordinator will sit with CDC’s OD2A program staff in Atlanta, GA at CDC’s Chamblee Campus.

• Develop and implement a technical assistance and training needs assessment for CDC OD2A program staff. • Develop a technical assistance and training plan for CDC OD2A program staff based on findings from the needs assessment. • Assist with the organization and execution of elements of the technical assistance and training plan for CDC OD2A program staff. • Catalogue all DOP overdose resources and other CDC overdose resources. • Conduct systematic reviews and literature searches on cutting edge topics in the high-priority, high-impact field of opioid/drug overdose prevention. • Review existing evidence-based tools and resources on various drug overdose prevention topics to identify gaps and needs. • Contribute to the conceptualization and development of effective technical assistance materials.

Qualifications: • A Master’s degree in public health, the social sciences or a related field • Minimum of 3 years related work experience • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Excellent program management and organization skills • Experience developing surveys and/or assessment tools • Experience conducting systematic reviews • Experience coordinating and/or developing trainings and/or professional development materials • Experience developing technical assistance tools and resources • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and within teams • Ability to work effectively with diverse partners and stakeholders • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Desired qualifications • Experience working in overdose prevention programs • Experience providing in-person and remote technical assistance to individuals, programs or recipients • Experience cataloguing and organizing resources • Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection • Experience developing scientific documents, including literature reviews, abstracts and proposals
