Position Description: As health officer, the entire community is your patient. patient.

Appointed by a board of elected officials, our health officer is responsible for enforcing public health laws, assessing, promoting and protecting the health of the community, developing public health policy, and advancing public health through leadership and partnerships.

In addition, our health officer participates in the executive team at the Kitsa the executive team at the Kitsap Public Health Health District, while cultivating relationships with medical providers and community organizations around shared health priorities.

Kitsap Public Health is widely recognized as an innovative agency committed to quality improvement improvement. In 2015, our health district became one the first 75 governmental public health agencies nationwide to be accredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board.

As health officer, you will have the opportunity to positively impact our organization, and the health of our comm health of our community, every day.

Under policy direction from the Kitsap Public Health Board ("Board"), and in coordination with the Administrator, the Health Officer is responsible for and empowered to enforce the provisions of RCW 70.05.070 and other applicable state laws, rules, and local ordinances. The incumbent i incumbent is also responsible for community health health assessment, public health policy, and the advancement of public health through partnerships and community leadership throughout Kitsap County. The incumbent is expected to apply a thorough and complete knowledge of procedures related to the field of medicine, and local public health programs, laws and regulations, to vari varied and complex work situations. Duties require innovative leadership and active collaboration with a wide range of strategic partners and stakeholders to address public health issues in a rapidly changing community environment.

Qualifications: •Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree and p previous related experience in both the medical field and public health field

(see license requirement below);

and

•Masters degree in Public Health or its equivalent as described in RCW 70.05.051. •Must be qualified or provisionally qualified in accordance with the standards prescribed in RCW 70.05.051 through 70.05.055.

•A valid license to practice medicine and surgery or osteopathic medicine and surgery in Washington State is required.

•Registration with the Drug Enforcement Agency for for prescription of controlled substances.

•Performance of job duties requires driving on a regular basis, a valid Washington State driver's license, the use of the incumbent's personal motor vehicle, and proof of appropriate auto insurance. insurance.
