Position Description: |
Master's degree in Biostatistics highly preferred.
To collect surveillance data and conduct statistical analyses of these data using appropriate analytical methods to identify disease outbreaks whether from natural causes or through bioterrorism incidents; to identify data sources; to manage data sets and insure the data are of high quality; to interpret the analysis and prepare comprehensive reports
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives immediate supervision from the Epidemiology supervisor and the OEDS Manager
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES – This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the jobs and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job- related knowledge and skills. • Manage disease surveillance data sets • Research data sources for identifying disease outbreaks including those from bioterrorism incidents • Oversee data entry • Assure quality of data including editing and verification of consistency • Conduct statistical analyses (descriptive and analytical) of data sets • Develop a protocol for timely interpretation of disease trends • Create tables, charts and graphics with narrative text • Interpret data analysis and prepare reports • Design health related surveys • Provide statistical consulting to disease investigators • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications: |
Surveillance Biostatistician I Training: • A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in public health administration, biostatistics, epidemiology or a related field MASTER'S DEGREE IN BIOSTATISTICS HIGHLY PREFERRED Experience: • No experience required
Surveillance Biostatistician II Training: • A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in public health administration, biostatistics, epidemiology or a related field MASTER'S DEGREE IN BIOSTATISTICS HIGHLY PREFERRED
Experience: • Two years of professional experience as a biostatistician
