Position Description: The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB Health) is recruiting a non-tenure track Assistant Professor to join the faculty in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Population Health (PMPH) (https://pmch.utmb.edu/ ). The mission of our department is to apply interdisciplinary expertise toward improving health and function and reducing health inequities across communities. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary faculty group that engage in research, clinical and community service, and the teaching of graduate students and medical and other health professions trainees.

Successful applicants will play an active role in teaching and mentoring graduate and medical students, supervising students’ community-based public health practice experiences, and contributing toward the growth and development of an expanding Public Health Program. Responsibilities will include the following: (1) assist departmental leadership on mission, goals, and strategic planning for public health and prevention education and service programs; (2) teach Master of Public Health courses for MPH, MD/MPH, and PhD/MPH students and medical residents; (3) work with community- and practice-based partners to place students in service learning, practice experiences, and medical rotations; (4) advise and mentor MPH students; (5) assist with the assessment of training community-based partners’ professional development needs and delivery of trainings that address identified needs; and (6) identify, communicate, and/or participate in opportunities for applied research collaborations.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Qualifications: -Required Qualifications: Doctoral degree (DrPH, PhD or equivalent) in a Public Health related field. Experience with public health education and public health practice and the ability to collaborate with academic and practice partners.

-Preferred Qualifications: Public health degree from an accredited school or program; classroom teaching experience; practice experience in a public health setting.

Organization Description: The Department of Preventive Medicine and Population Health (PMPH) (https://pmch.utmb.edu/) administers graduate programs in Public Health (MPH), Population Health Sciences (MS, PhD), Rehabilitation Sciences (PhD), Clinical Science (MS/PhD), and Medical Humanities (MA, PhD); it also trains medical students and residents on topics in prevention and public health.

UTMB was established in 1891 as the first academic health center in Texas and is a component of the University of Texas System.
