Position Description: Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin, Department of Medi Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases seek seeks a candidate to serve as the Wisconsin Anti Antibiotic Stewardship (AS) Coordinator. This This position is a member of the Healthcare Asso Associated Infections (HAI) Prevention team at t at the Wisconsin Department of Health Serv Services, Division of Public Health, Bureau of C of Communicable Diseases, Communicable Dise Diseases Epidemiology Section.

Principal duties:

The AS Coordinator will provide senior-level expertise in epidemiology and infection prevention, with proficiency in antibiotic r resistance (AR), antibiotic stewardship ( (AS), and data for action. The expert will l lead program and policy development to: - Reduce AR infections and implement AS in a v variety of healthcare settings. - Provide expertise in infectious diseases, H HAIs, AR, and AS core element implementation a and sustainability. - Lead and oversee in the development and implementation of locally relevant public health interventions and prevention guidelines that include AS and control of Clostridioides Clostridioide Clostridioides Clostridioides difficle infections (CDI), carbapenem carbapenem-resis carbapenem carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE), Candida auris, and other multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs resistant organisms (MDROs).

The AS Coordinator will lead the statewide AS Steering Committee with subgroups working on acute care, long-term care, outpatient, emergency medicine, the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) antimicrobial use and resistance (AUR) module implementation, and OneHealth OneH OneHealth OneHealth initiatives. They will collaborate wi with stakeholder members of the subgroups to sh share activities, opportunities for co collaboration, and lessons learned that ad advance AS across the healthcare spectrum. Th The AS Coordinator will lead efforts to pr promote Antibiotic Awareness Week messaging, in including social media engagement with the pu public, coordination with local health de departments (LHDs), and links on the DHS we webpage for the core elements and ¿Be An Antibiotics Aware¿ materials.

The candidate will lead collaboration with the Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) and other partners on inpatient and outpatient AS efforts and projects. The AS coordinator will also monitor the CDC Patient Safety Atlas prescribing data in addition to statewide AR data to inform collaborative activities. Using these partnerships and data, they will identify AS project collaboration opportunities that advance AS goals to increase use of antibiograms, to b better understand local resistance and p prescribing patterns, and to provide patient e education materials to impact outpatient AS.

Qualifications: Masters degree in public health, health policy, epidemiology, medicine, pharmacy,or other related field required. Doctoral degree or equivalent experience preferred. 3+ yea years of experience in applied public health, hea healthcare infection prevention, or infectious dis diseases preferred. 3+ years of experience in applied public health, healthcare infection prevention, or infectious diseases preferred.
