Position Description: CDC Regular Fellow (AD-7-9): Epi Info Vector

The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical assistance in the specialized activities associated with the design, development, integration, implementation, and life-cycle maintenance of mainframe, client/server and internet-based systems which support the mission of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and ATSDR (CDC). Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Applications Programming Develop new modules for established software systems for enterprise wide applications containing critical data in support of the work of the agency. The work includes the preparation of programming specifications such as inputs, outputs, flow diagrams, decision logic tables, and linkages with other applications systems; developing block diagrams and program coding; and testing, validating, and documenting programs. Works collaboratively with employees and contractors, etc., to ensure that tasks are completed, that good working relationships among co based systems which support the mission of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and ATSDR (CDC). Analyzes problems and identifies solutions. Programs computer systems applications to solutions and tests and evaluates the results. Tests software by exercising all logic paths. Documents test results and modifies program code to debug the programs. Ensures that implementation proceeds in an orderly manner through the identification and efficient resolution of runtime problems. Prepares and maintains detailed internal and external documentation for all programs in a clear and readily understood manner. Database Administration And/Or Management Develops and/or applies available technologies to adapt computer methods to a variety of data management and other issues. Provides guidance and technical direction necessary for accomplishing the work. Represents the project and conveys findings and recommendations in meetings on issues related to or that have an impact on objectives, work products, and/or tasks. Plans, constructs and maintains databases for data storage, manipulation, and retrieval. Modifies commercial database management systems and/or develops new programs to maintain files, etc. Develops and administers quality control, data verification, processes, file conversion and consolidation, testing and maintenance and backup requirements. Produces and maintains instructional literature and user guides. Project Management Assists with planning, developing, organizing, coordinating, and managing information technology projects. Develops and gains approval of project plans, monitors and reviews project progress, serves as liaison with customers, adjusts schedules and plans as necessary, identifies and resolves issues, and obtains user acceptance of completed products and services. Performs other duties as assigned.

Regular Fellows (non-FTE): Requires at least a bachelor’s degree in a scientific field. a)MS degree = AD-7 b)MD/PhD degree = AD-9
