Position Description: SUMMARY Under the supervision of a more senior researcher/account exec, the assistant’s primary responsibility will be to support youth tobacco prevention media campaigns by documenting the scientific justification for creative executions; gathering information and helping to prepare materials for inclusion in programs, reports, and studies; tracking project deadlines, timelines, and deliverables; supporting the execution of nationally representative research studies.

Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS Tobacco Strategist I The academic knowledge of a discipline that generally relates to a master’s degree and 3 – 5 years experience performing research in social science.

Tobacco Strategist II The academic knowledge of a discipline that generally relates to either: 1) the completion of a bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience, or 2) a master’s degree. Candidates must also have a demonstrated ability to perform beginning-level research in social science.

TYPICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND SKILLS; RELATED DUTIES The positions require: • Strong research skills to review and write critical summaries of research literature • Impeccable attention to detail to meet client requirements for research justification and citation • Strong interpersonal skills to successfully navigate multiple client meetings and briefings per week • Experience multitasking successfully under rapid deadlines • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and succinctly • Familiarity with principals of health communication and drug abuse prevention; knowledge of anti-tobacco research; familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research techniques, including IRB/OMB approvals

The researcher will also support other KDHRC project and proposal efforts, by: • Gathering information and prepare materials for inclusion in public health programs, reports, and papers. These materials may include project reports, evaluation materials such as focus group guides, surveys, and protocols, and public health products, such as curricula, training guides, and websites. • Write up research results; help prepare reports for submission and papers for publication; may present results to clients or at conferences. • Assist in conceptualizing, researching, and writing proposals
