Position Description: We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced public health nurse to serve as our Director of Nursing and manage our Family Health Services Division. This position will oversee the following program areas: Communicable Disease Control Reproductive Health Children's Medical Services Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Home Visiting Initiatives

Under direction plans, organizes and directs the operations, activities and public health nursing services of the Health Agency; coordinates and directs personnel, resources and communications to meet identified County and public health nursing service needs and assures effective and efficient division activities; supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. In addition, four years of progressively responsible experience as a public health nurse after receipt of a California public health nurse certificate - - two years of the required experience must be as a supervisor in a public health agency. Possession of a Master's Degree in Nursing or Public Health may substitute for one year of the required non-supervisory experience. The Ideal Candidate will: - Have strong knowledge of and experience in public health principles and practices - Be an effective manager with skills in directing plans and operations, employee supervision, data gathering and analysis, and fiscal oversight - Be an excellent communicator, both oral and written, able to present clear and persuasive messages Easily develop partnerships and work collaboratively with public and private stakeholders and coworkers - Be a proven problem solver, team builder, strategic thinker, and politically astute - Possess excellent organizational skills and be skilled at identifying best practices

Organization Description: Organization Description: The Public Health Department of the County of San Luis Obispo has ~230 employees, a $35M budget and resides within the Health Agency alongside the Behavioral Health Department, Animal Services Division and Administration. The SLO PHD is comprised of seven divisions that include this one (Family Health Services) and Environmental Health, EMS, Health Care Access, Health Promotion, Lab, and Policy/Evaluation/Planning. We are in the process of seeking PHAB Accreditation.
