Position Description: ABOUT THE END FUND’S PROGRAMS TEAM AND APPROACH TO EVIDENCE, MEASUREMENT & EVALUATION

The END Fund currently manages a NTD portfolio of over $30m per year. This granting portfolio is spread across more than 25 countries in Africa and Asia and managed through three programmatic sub-funds, the Flagship Fund, the Deworming Innovation Fund, and the Reaching the Last Mile Fund. It is essential and central to our work to use evidence for continuous improvement, data to facilitate comprehensive fund performance analysis and evaluation of value for money, return on investment, and quality of practice. This critical component of our work is directed by the Director EME, who reports to the Senior Vice President of Programs, in close partnership with all Programs Team colleagues. The EME Analyst is a new role, reporting to the Director EME and will focus specifically on the Deworming Innovation Fund. The successful candidate will work with the Director EME on robust monitoring systems and tools, tracking data, deep analysis of all relevant metrics, generating and disseminating knowledge among stakeholders (i.e. implementing partners, technical experts, END Fund colleagues) and supporting programmatic innovations.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Deworming Innovation Fund is one of the END Fund’s three investment funds. Launched in 2019, the Deworming Innovation Fund is an integrated, targeted, six-year investment to accelerate progress toward the elimination of soil-transmitted helminths and schistosomiasis in Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Rwanda. Evidence, Measurement and Evaluation will be key to the success of this fund. The primary role of the Analyst, EME will be to support the Director, EME in the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities in support of the Deworming Innovation Fund’s ambitious objectives.

The day-to-day of this position will entail extensive work with data, including creating and updating tools and developing analysis and visualizations; reviewing and assessing technical documents, such as survey protocols or M&E frameworks, and collaborating with Programs team members and technical partners to support specific grants through meetings, field visits and coordination. The successful candidate will be able to work independently with minimal oversight, have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities and projects with strong analytical and written communication skills. This is an individual contributor position with no direct reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES Technical support in survey design and implementation Support the supervision of planning, design and implementation of data collection surveys administered by the END Fund’s implementing partners (including NGOs, INGOs and government ministries) in 4 countries Provide analytical inputs for the development of protocols, implementation strategies, and methodical plans for epidemiological surveys (i.e. review methodological design and coherence, review indicators) Review findings from data analysis and final reports developed by implementing partners to verify coherence and provide programmatic recommendations, and conduct additional dataset analysis as required Manage the implementation of activities designed to evaluate our programmatic investments, either conducted internally or by external evaluators Travel on behalf of the END Fund up to 25% domestic and/or international (when travel safely resumes)

Conceptualization and development of EME tools Assist in the design of the monitoring and evaluation strategy for the Deworming Innovation Fund through research of best practices and tools and thorough examination of literature reviews Aid the development and maintenance of ad-hoc EME tools to compile, analyze and report the fund’s data and progress, including epidemiological, coverage and impact survey data Data analysis Conduct regular data analysis on baselines, targets and performance to inform ongoing program implementation and reporting Propose and implement new analyses depending on project needs; identify methods to strengthen monitoring & evaluation processes for the Deworming Innovation Fund Donor reporting Liaise with members of the Program team, the Strategy & Operations team and the Investor Relations team to update relevant tracking and reporting tools on a regular basis using Tableau Develop presentations and other materials to support communication of the fund’s performance Provide administrative and technical support to the Deworming Innovation Fund Donor M&E Working Group, coordinated by the Director EME Knowledge sharing and dissemination Keep up-to-date with research and guidelines related to monitoring & evaluation for neglected tropical diseases Liaise within the Programs team to ensure that best practices identified across projects and evaluations are leveraged across the portfolio to improve programmatic investments Support the design and delivery of EME training and capacity-building activities to implementing partners and/or within the END Fund Assist the Director, EME and Programs and Communications colleagues to promote the dissemination of results from the Deworming Innovation Fund with targeted audiences (including preparing abstracts and presentations for technical meetings and conferences, helping to identify opportunities for publication, participating in the development of technical briefs or peer- reviewed papers)

Qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Master’s Degree required in a quantitative field related to monitoring & evaluation, such as data management and analysis, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics or another relevant discipline Minimum of 5 years of directly relevant experience in monitoring & evaluation, research, survey implementation and/or epidemiological work, with at least 2 years in the global health sector working in NTDs, infectious disease, disease elimination or similar practice Experience developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation metrics and tools, including epidemiological survey design and management in low-resource countries, preferred Proficiency in data cleaning and merging and analysis of programmatic datasets, ideally with Salesforce and Tableau Passion for and commitment to the END Fund's humanitarian mission
