Position Description: The Research Program Coordinator for the Acute Care Policy Research Team (ACPR) will provide operational and administrative support and oversight for projects conducted in the Department of Emergency Medicine by the Acute Care Policy Research team. The Research Program Coordinator will support projects in geography, health services research, and acute and emergency care. These projects include federally funded studies, foundational grants, and investigator initiated research. The Research Program Coordinator will work with study teams both internal to Mount Sinai, and with external collaborators at academic institutions and health systems.

The Research Program Coordinator will be responsible for thecoordination of study operations; communication to internal and external personnel with regard to study conduct; development of study documents, meeting materials, presentations, and other documentation; and assistance with data management and manuscript preparation. The Research Program Coordinator will also have the opportunity to assist with the creation of a new consortium focused on healthcare delivery and system science for disaster response.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Performs grant management requirements including inter-departmental coordination with grants office, business office, compliance office, Institutional Review Board (regulatory), and external data source suppliers. Facilitates communication with internal partners and with external research collaborators concerning partnership for future endeavors. Coordinates and organizes activities related to research project development, implementation, and evaluation. Prepares and edits IRB documents for investigator-initiated studies and provides support for protocol development. Ensures adherence to project budget and scope of work to realize project goals. Ensures compliance for project-related training and adequate resourcing is available to meet project deliverables and milestones. Manages project budgets, tracks expenditures, and fulfills reporting requirements. Identifies and recommends changes to policies, procedures, and processes that have an impact on research studies. Initiates and manages opening, closing and maintenance activities for projects, including documentation and filing of data, information, reports, etc. Interfaces with research administration and compliance personnel regarding monitoring of project compliance. Coordinates grant proposal submissions, abstract submissions, and manuscript preparation and submissions with principal investigator, research staff, and student researchers. Ensures that sub-contractors meet their technical responsibilities (data management, data analysis) across multiple institutions in a timely manner to ensure that the aims of the funded research grants are achieved. Achieves subject matter proficiency by reading and synthesizing pertinent literature. Performs research activities within the scope of the portfolio including writing and grant proposals and collaborating with internal investigators to further develop the health services research portfolio. Other duties include coordinating professional meetings or events, taking of minutes, drafting/proofing documents, composing correspondence with other investigators, etc. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree in related field preferred. Experience: Expereince managing administrative project functions that include grant management, preparing IRB documentation, adherence to budget, etc. Any project management related experience in an academic research, health care delivery or health policy focused setting. Familiarity with topics pertaining to health care delivery, health policy, public heatlh, and/or acute care. Familiarity with topics pertaining to statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, or related, and how these disciplines are used in the context of health services research and medicine Prior experience in data management and analysis preferred. Working knowledge of technical computing software packages such as SPSS, R, Stata, SAS, etc (preferred) Proficiency with the Microsoft Office product suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
