Position Description: NACDD’s GIS team collaborates with partners to develop and implement GIS skills training and technical assistance; develop and disseminate supplemental resources and/or tools to assist health department staff in using and applying GIS skills; provide administrative support for project activities; and provide opportunities for health department GIS users to network and share GIS-related ideas, strategies, questions, resources.

Scope of Work and Deliverables: • Work closely with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) staff and contractors to carry out NACDD Workplan activities with state and local health department staff. • Communicate regularly with the GIS Network, comprised of state and local health department staff working with GIS in chronic disease prevention and health promotion programs, about learning opportunities, available GIS resources, and other relevant information. • Coordinate GIS-related peer exchange opportunities, including webinars, peer groups, roundtables, and conference calls, related to GIS to state and local health departments. • Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments of the needs of NACDD members related to use of GIS for chronic disease programs, policies, partnerships, and surveillance. • Develop project proposals and recommendations to CDC based on assessments. • Work with CDC and NACDD members to exchange resources related to building health department GIS capacity for chronic disease and health promotion programs. • Develop, collect, and disseminate materials and resources to assist health departments with implementing policies and processes to build and sustain chronic disease GIS capacity. • Recognize, document, and promote GIS- related work in chronic disease prevention programs in state and local health departments. • Collaborate with the GIS and Cardiovascular Health consultant teams to develop strategies that will strengthen connections between NACDD programmatic, surveillance, and evaluation activities. • Ensure all deliverables are met, timelines are adhered to, project reports are provided, and submitted online and on time. • Provide support and assistance in the development of federal and other organizational grant opportunities.

Qualifications: Qualification Requirements: • Master’s degree in public health, Public Health Administration, or related field with a minimum of ten years of experience • Experience working with or within state or local health departments • Must possess strong project management, prioritization, and planning skills, with demonstrated success producing high- quality deliverables on time and within budget • Experience with building GIS capacity to inform programs, policies, partnerships, and public health surveillance is preferred • Experience convening and facilitating meetings and conference calls • Experience managing projects from idea through implementation • Experience conducting and analyzing assessments, surveys, and other qualitative data collection methods • Experience using virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom • Experience developing program budgets and working with finance teams to monitor budgets • Experience in federal government grant programs and grants management • Experience in writing grants (both for private funders and public funders), project work plans and project budgets • Skills writing for a variety of audiences, including newsletters and project proposals • Knowledge of graphic design principles is preferred • Effective communication and organizational skills; ability to effectively communicate through technical writing for required Federal Government grants and cooperative agreements. • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and with a team • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the senior management, staff, and other NACDD consultants. • Able to take direction well and able to establish and maintain professional credibility and diplomacy •Available to travel as needed

Additional Qualifications: This position is an independent contractor position.
