Overview

Tanaq Support Services (TSS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in health, technology, and other government services. About the Role

We are seeking a Health Communications Specialist III to provide support to the Center for Global Health (CGH) Global HIV and TB (DGHT) Division at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The individual will work collaboratively across teams to ensure that digital, social, and traditional media content aligns with division goals for reaching key audiences. Additionally, this role provides support with clearance requests and tracking when needed..

Responsibilities

Develop 45 detailed country profiles, collecting our COVID data and subsequently presenting this information in a few other formats

Build up content for communication products supporting branch work and activities

Support ongoing communication efforts related to global TB and HIV

Plan, implement and evaluate a variety of health communication and marketing activities supporting branch goals and objectives

Enhance program effectiveness by applying relevant social marketing practices and health communication theories

Provide consultation and technical assistance in developing and implementing priorities, strategies, and practices for communicating with various audiences (e.g., general public, stakeholders, and host countries)

Develop and disseminate science- and audience-based products, tools, and messages to different audiences in various formats

Collect data from programs to develop health communication and policy strategies and products

Prepare presentation materials (e.g. talking points, Power Point slides, issues briefs) for meetings, site visits, conferences, etc.

Ensure that documents conform to agency policies, branding, and style.

Coordinate production of materials and dissemination through various media and social media outlets

Respond to data calls and collaborate with division and agency -level communication points of contact, as well as points of contacts from other domestic and international partners

Manage clearance processes for communication and policy research, evaluation, and publications

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience

3 -5 years’ experience writing, reviewing, and editing health communication materials.

3-5 years’ experience creating and writing social media content.

Effective communication complex social media metrics and findings into clear, plain language.

Ability to analyze social media raw data for trends in metrics.

Good interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to strategize and brainstorm across divisions.

Ability to use social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Sprout Social. Other acceptable platforms include, Hootsuite, Sprinklr, etc.

Proficient in MS Office Suite.

Recent CDC and/or Public Health experience desired..

Education and Training

Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Communications (journalism, advertising, public relations); or English (writing/editing); or Public Health.

Master's degree in Public Health preferred.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift 25 pounds regularly.
