Position Description: Responsibilities The Senior Health Program Coordinator will be located within the AIDS Institute Office of Drug User Health (ODUH). The incumbent will provide technical assistance to NYS Department of Health contractors who work with the most vulnerable New Yorkers. The funded programs serve a population that has substance use disorder, is unstably housed, and suffers from multiple physical and mental health problems. The incumbent will ensure that COVID-19 education, access to COVID-19 testing and vaccinations are available to program clients and that the organization is prepared for any other disease outbreak.

The Senior Health Program Coordinator will assist in the coordination of and/or coordinate projects related to women, pregnant and parenting people who use drugs (PWUD) and the Women Who Use Drug (WWUD) workgroup. The incumbent will develop and coordinate presentations, education, training and resources to address the barriers and challenges women, pregnant and parenting people who use drugs face accessing harm reduction, substance use treatment and healthcare in NYS. The incumbent will contribute to the development of a needs assessment and policy paper to address the needs, barriers and challenges faced by women, pregnant and parenting people who use drugs in NYS.

The incumbent will be responsible for the coordination of contract related activities contracts for syringe exchange programs and drug user health hub (SEP/DUHH) agencies. The incumbent will assist in the coordination of the negotiation of budgets and workplans, assist in the coordination of program implementation activities, assist in the coordination of agency activities and quality improvement efforts, and provide technical assistance to enhance contractors' effectiveness, efficiencies, efficacies, and outcomes related to funded services. The incumbent will review monthly narrative, fiscal and data reports and conduct site visits to observe agencies' functioning and client satisfaction with services. The incumbent will also be responsible for written reports; and perform other appropriate related duties.

This position is supported by the New York State Public Health Corps Fellowship Program.

Successful completion of the Public Health Essentials certificate program will be required.

This is a grant funded position, expected to last approximately one year.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience in program coordination in a public health, health, health regulatory, or human services related program; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and four years of such experience; OR six years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.

Preferred Qualifications At least one year experience working with people who use drugs and knowledge of harm reduction, substance use disorder (SUD), and opioid use disorder (OUD). Knowledge and/or experience in one or more of the following: reproductive justice, drug user health, medically assisted treatment, public health program management, evaluation of policies and interventions relating to drug user health. Experience in a public health program; with health care providers, government agencies, community groups and other organizations.
