Position Description: The Washington State Department of Health is hiring for two Epidemiologist positions in the Office of Communicable Disease Epidemiology Molecular Epidemiology Program. We have openings for Molecular Epidemiologist 2 and Epidemiologist 3 positions.

The Molecular Epidemiology Program leads genomic epidemiology capacity building through integration of genomic and epidemiologic data, development of best practices in genomic data analysis and visualizations, and interpretation and communication for public audiences. While this program is presently focused on SARS- CoV-2 including developing and implementing a surveillance system to identify and report on genetic variants of the virus, the program will cover other notifiable conditions as sequencing results become available.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications • Option 1: A Master's degree or higher in epidemiology.

Or

• Option 2: Master's degree or higher in public health or a closely allied field including 12 graduate quarter hours or equivalent (500 level or above) in epidemiology and 12 graduate quarter hours or equivalent in biostatistics.

And

• Senior Epi Positions – Two (2) or more years of supervisory or lead experience in a public health or equivalent setting.

• Epi 3 Positions – Two (2) or more years of experience working in a public health agency or a similar setting.

• Epi 2 Positions – One (1) or more years of experience working in a public health agency or a similar setting.

• Epi 1 Positions – No additional experience is required.
