Position Description: Responsibilities The Program Research Specialist I will assist with performing data analysis activities associated with the Bureau of Community Environmental Health and Food Protection's Program Standardization, Evaluation, and Reporting Section. The incumbent will also assist with the development of reports to support policy initiatives in the Bureaus respective program areas and provide technical assistance. The incumbent will assist local health departments (LHD) with their reporting requirements from state mandated databases such as the Environmental Health Inspection and Permitting System (eHIPS) and will perform other appropriate related duties as assigned.

This position is supported by the New York State Public Health Corps Fellowship Program. Successful completion of the Public Health Essentials certificate program will be required.

This is a grant funded position, expected to last approximately one year.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Informatics, Statistics, or a related field; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and two years of research experience in the collection and analysis of data; OR four years of such experience.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.

Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Informatics, Statistics, or a related field. Familiarity with environmental health inspection data, data management skills/experience, and demonstrated data analysis abilities using SAS, SQL, Access, or Excel. Experience conducting data quality assurance activities to improve the quality and completeness of data.
