Purpose of the Position: This professional accountant position works under general supervision, reports to the Senior Finance Manager, and may receive direction from the Chief Operating Officer or Executive Director. The accountant must be proficient and able to perform a variety of financial duties to include manage accounts receivable and payable, prepare and post entries to the general ledger, post accounts expenditures specific to grants and contracts, manage grants and contracts, prepare year-end accruals, and communicate key information to decision makers and those responsible for complying with established effective finance principles.

Essential Job Functions: This professional is responsible for performing the tasks as follows: Prepare invoices, A19s, and supporting documentation for Federal, State, and private grant funding sources; Perform monthly revenue and accounts receivable reconciliations of invoices generated via grant, fees, and distribution from state and county sources; Manage and maintain new and renewal of; vendor, customer, and subrecipient contracts and grants. Review contract and grant content, initiate renewal, ensure collection of signed contracts, maintain contracts and grants and files for completeness. Also, managing contract and grant contacts and renewal dates. Audit Developmental Disability program according to DDA’s guidelines. Which is including, but not limited to, vendor site visits. Work independently to; research, solve problems, analyze information and evaluate results in preparing grant invoicing; Manage daily cash activities, grant payments, general and investment accounts, and bank account reconciliations; Research, analyze and prepare accruals and month-end journals for financial transactions; Audit and reconcile assigned accounts in the general ledger; Assist finance division staff in managing accounts payable, payroll and other accounting functions; Perform and coordinate the maintenance and production of accounting reports and records while ensuring compliance with established accounting procedures and practices; Develop, prioritize, implement and monitor finance goals and objectives; Collect statistical data, maintain records, and prepare a variety of financial reports; Present complex regulations and guidelines in writing and verbally in a clear and concise manner to internal and external customers; Work closely with program directors responsible for managing grants to ensure financial data is maintained and reported in accordance with grant guidelines; Other ad-hoc duties as requested by the Senior Finance Manager, COO, or Executive Director. Develop controls and procedures for Point of Sale systems. Including, but not limited to, Accela. Provide insight and methods to increase internal controls organization wide.

Qualifications: Knowledge and Abilities: A Bachelors’ degree in accounting, finance or related field One (1) year of experience in accounting or financial experience An equivalent amount of experience may substitute for education on a one-on-one basis Prior experience with A19 and grant invoicing is preferred Knowledge of leadership, program management, and oversee service deliverables Must be proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and financial software (Cayenta is preferred) Establish and maintain effective, courteous and respectful interpersonal relationships with internal and external colleagues, partners, clients, and the public, to include communicating with a difficult or a disruptive customer Ability to communicate effectively with a very diverse workforce and community Ability to speak, read, write English is required
