Position Description: The Field Liaison works within the Virginia Department of Health’s STD Prevention and Surveillance (SPS) program to train internal stakeholders on the Virginia Electronic Disease Surveillance System (VEDSS). Responsibilities will include:

-Developing, modifying, and maintaining VEDSS training materials and resources -Providing group and individualized instruction on VEDSS activities and related workflows and processes -Providing onsite technical assistance -Assisting with workflow development and redesign -Coordinating training schedules and sessions to support the training demands of VDH stakeholders -Developing strong relationships with stakeholders, notably local health department and other Central Office staff, to facilitate communication and feedback -Conducting ongoing quality assurances reviews and implementing corrective training, when necessary -Participating in implementation and transition to VEDSS from existing STD surveillance data system, Maven This position will also provide assistance with other duties related to STI (sexually transmitted infections) surveillance and STI data entry/quality assurance activities. __________

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) contract position hired and employed directly by 22nd Century Technologies, Inc. The selected candidate will not be considered a state employee and will not receive state benefits. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of a background investigation.

This position is based at the VDH Central Office in Richmond, VA. The selected candidate will be required to report to the Central Office in Richmond at least three days per week and may be required to report to work at the Central Office up to five days per week during and following the public health emergency.

This position will require in-state travel, including occasional overnight travel.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: -Bachelor’s degree and/or experience in public health-related field -Basic knowledge of infectious disease epidemiology, public health surveillance and reporting, and disease outbreak investigations -Experience training staff, including developing and evaluating training materials and conducting trainings -Experience using disease surveillance data systems -Experience working with sensitive and confidential patient data and demonstrated ability to comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines -Strong oral and written communication and customer service skills -Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Preferred Qualifications: -Experience with VEDSS or National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) Base System (NBS). -Experience with STI surveillance, epidemiology, or investigation.
