Position Description: |
The fellow will join the Communications Team in the Office of the Associate Director (OAD), Epidemiology and Genomics Research Program (EGRP), Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). This position provides an outstanding opportunity for training and professional development in communicating scientific and health-related information to a variety of audiences, including researchers, health practitioners, policy makers, and the general population. The fellow will work on communication projects for the OAD and the Program’s five branches, which focus on topics such as clinical, environmental, genetic, and nutritional epidemiology, and cancer survivorship.
Specific duties include:
-Writing and editing content for EGRP’s website and monthly newsletter, scientific meetings and conferences, reports, social media; -Creating presentations; -Designing infographics, short videos, and other visual elements; -Developing and implementing communication strategies for various initiatives; -Conducting outreach and promotion for EGRP initiatives and events; and -Collecting and analyzing communication- related metrics using tools like Adobe Analytics and GovDelivery.
Other projects are possible and will be tailored to the fellow's specific interests and professional development goals.

Qualifications: |
-Bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications or marketing, biomedical science, or public health-related field.
-Some experience with health communications, science writing, or marketing.
-Strong interest in cancer prevention and control and/or science and health communication.
-Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
-Experience using graphic design and video editing software such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro, and infographic-generators such as Venngage or Canva, is desirable, but not required.
-Excellent organizational skills and experience managing projects. -Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and also work well independently on self-directed projects.
-Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
