Position Description: The State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health (DPH) is now accepting applications for an exciting opportunity to join the Immunization Program team as an Epidemiologist 1 (Infectious/Chronic Diseases) in the ever-evolving public health immunization field. This dynamic and experienced team that has been at the heart of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign in CT.

The mission of the Immunization Program is to prevent disease, disability, and death from vaccine-preventable diseases in infants, children, adolescents and adults through surveillance, case investigation and control, monitoring of immunization levels, provision of vaccine, and professional and public education.

This field epidemiologist position is located in the Connecticut Department of Public Health, Infectious Disease Section. The position will provide the opportunity to join the Immunization Program to: 1. Conduct vaccine provider clinic visits to assess compliance with vaccine administration, storage, and handling requirements; 2. Conduct IQIP (Immunization Quality Improvement Provider) visits including running vaccine coverage reports using the CT WiZ Immunization Information System and working with vaccine providers to implement strategies for improving childhood vaccine coverage; 3. Stay up to date on vaccine guidance and to educate providers and the public on vaccines and vaccine preventable disease; 4. Undertake COVID-19 and other vaccination coverage data analyses and create meaningful data visualizations; 5. Participate in surveillance and outbreak investigations for vaccine preventable diseases, when needed; 6. Collaborate projects and analyses to present orally or in writing.

This is a full-time, 35 hours a week position. Hybrid telework, flex schedule and tuition reimbursement options are available.

1. Experience conducting site visits to provide public health education and/or assess compliance with regulations/program requirements 2. Experience using online computer platforms (e.g., REDCap) to manage and document programmatic information (due dates, task completion etc.) 3. Experience with immunization data and schedules 4. Experience using computer software to manage, analyze and visualize epidemiologic data (Excel, R, SAS, ArcGIS) 5. Experience communicating results of epidemiologic analyses orally and in writing 6. Experience working with professionals with a wide range of backgrounds including clinical staff
