GHPC is seeking an assistant project director (APD) to join the already awesome team taking the GHPC to the next level of excellence and global achievements!

The center’s current scope of work includes behavioral health, child health & well-being, community health systems development, health & health care financing, health in all policies, health systems transformation, long-term services & support, population & global health, and rural health. The center conducts, analyzes, and disseminates qualitative and quantitative research to connect decision-makers with the objective research and guidance needed to make informed decisions about health policy and programs. ABOUT THIS POSITION The APD serves as project manager for the work of multiple project teams to accomplish contract deliverables in a timely manner. The APD guides programmatic, administrative, and financial management of projects and coordinates client management across all projects.

The APD will work directly with the director of the population and global health to provide team leadership and stewardship of GHPC resources to expand the center’s capacity in policy and program evaluations and health equity agenda. The APD will be responsible for facilitating the engaged scholarship of research associates, providing mentorship where appropriate, and encouraging increased levels of peer-reviewed publication, as well as developing tools and products that are of high value to stakeholders seeking to improve the health of their communities.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Provide leadership and develop projects, project portfolios, and competency areas. • Manage implementation of strategic goals with multiple, complex projects ensuring contract deliverables are met. • Oversee the strategic operations of project activities (budget, personnel, information, policies, reports, and procedures). • Manage and coordinate project strategic planning, compliance, and research. • Provide supervision, career development, learning opportunities, and mentoring for direct reports and project teams. • Serve as a liaison among clients, GHPC, and university personnel. • Facilitate meetings, including developing meeting goals and objectives, announcements and materials, and reports. • Support the implementation of a strategic state plan, including a corresponding communications plan. • Write project reports, briefing papers, policy white papers, posters, oral presentations, and peer-reviewed articles.

• Build new, maintain existing, and develop strategic relationships with external clients. • Identify and develop new projects, grants, and funding proposals. • Create a nurturing environment, treating all GHPC staff with respect, and consistently represent GHPC. • Lead as a senior member of research teams and develop individual research and dissemination initiatives. • Communicate learnings from projects, programs, and research to a variety of audiences.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES TO MAKE YOU SHINE • Strong project management, including the ability to meet strategic goals and objectives and budget management • Knowledge of appropriate research designs • Evaluation skills, including identification, development, and execution of appropriate evaluation strategies • Qualitative and quantitative analytic skills • Writing skills to meet the needs across audiences (stakeholders, senior officials, legislators, journals) • Presentation skills • Proposal writing skills • Emotional intelligence • Group facilitation skills, particularly experience working with collaboratives and stakeholder groups • Networking skills and aptitude for representing GHPC with local, state, and national organizations • Building relationships internally and externally • Demonstrated participatory and team- oriented style of interaction • Excellent leadership skills; extraordinary motivator • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS YOU NEED Doctoral degree in psychology, social work, health policy, health management, public health, public policy, or a related field and three years of related experience or master’s degree and five years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree and seven years of related experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS It is expected that the candidate will have at least five years of experience in project management. The ideal candidate should have significant evaluation and/or technical assistance expertise and experience managing projects and teams where health systems change is a focus. A background in facilitating health equity change is also desired.
