Position Description: |
The Communicable Disease Service (CDS) is hiring a Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) Nurse Infection Preventionist (Nursing Consultant) in the Infection Control, Healthcare, & Environmental Epidemiology (ICHEE) Section. This position will support the prevention, response, and containment activities involved with multi-drug resistant organisms (MDRO) and other infectious diseases in healthcare facilities throughout New Jersey; these include acute care, long-term care, and outpatient facilities. Partners with health professionals at the local, state, and federal level regarding issues related to HAI/AR and infection control; including site visits into healthcare facilities and review of clinical documentation, such as medical records and auditing documentation, as needed. Documents infection control assessments and corresponding recommendations, targeting areas for mitigation of transmission within the healthcare facilities. Responsible for providing infection prevention and control subject-matter expertise to help control outbreaks and transmission events within healthcare facilities. Prepares and distribute reports and feedback to healthcare providers, local health departments and other internal partners. Contributes to the development of guidance and educational materials pertaining to infection prevention and control best practices to minimize opportunities for MDRO transmission within healthcare settings. Provides guidance to CDS, regulatory agencies, local health departments, healthcare providers, hospitals and others during MDRO and HAI outbreaks and investigations. The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently, organize, plan, and manage time effectively to complete assignments. The candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and will have expertise and experience with antimicrobial resistance surveillance data, outbreak investigations, infection control, data analysis, and reporting. The ability to travel on-site to healthcare facilities is preferred. The successful candidate will have experience in infection control, care of the environment, and experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team; experience with communicable disease investigations preferred. Preference will be given to those candidates who are Certified in Infection Control (CIC).

Qualifications: |
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related health field and a Master's degree with a major course of study in Nursing Supervision, Administration, Public Health, Medical Care, Nursing, Health Education, or related health field. NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required Bachelor's degree but possess an Associates degree in Nursing or graduated from an accredited School of Nursing may substitute two (2) years of additional clinical nursing experience as indicated. NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required Master's degree may substitute one (1) year of additional clinical nursing experience as indicated. EXPERIENCE: Six (6) years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care, long-term or community-based setting. LICENSE: Current registration as a Professional Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
