Position Description: |
Overview Tanaq Support Services (TSS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in health, agriculture, technology, and other government services. TSS is a subsidiary of the St. George Tanaq Corporation, an Alaskan Native Corporation (ANC) committed to serving Federal customers while also giving back to the Tanaq native community and shareholders. SGT is privately owned by Alaska Natives, and stock is not publicly traded. About the Role We are seeking a Genomics Statistician to support the Office of Science at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Responsibilities - Provide statistical analysis and support in the conduct of systematic evidence reviews and other research activities on genomics and precision health topics selected.
- Organizes and stores data extracted from the literature and from data sources in formats that facilitate analyses.
- Utilizes and conducts research on applications of precision public health tools and methods.
- Work includes analyzing complex health statistics databases including variables pertaining to health outcomes, biometrics/biomarkers, genomics, clinical codes, and socioeconomics/demographics.
- Prepares and assists in the development of scientific publications and reports.
- Database and analysis programs such as SAS, SQL, R and Python will be used to conduct the work. Health impact, evaluation, and modeling activities will be conducted.
- Prepare and submit monthly project report.

Qualifications: |
Required Experience and Skills - 3 to 5 years working experience in public health.
- Seven years of experience in conducting complex and advanced public health statistical analysis including approaches using rigorous biostatistics methods.
- Programming experience using Python, R, and SAS in analyzing large data sets in cloud computing environments.
- Experience with approaches for marker-trait and gene-trait association (GWAS, PheWAS, Mendelian randomization, etc), especially as they relate to implications in large multi-ethnic cohorts, and/or polygenic risk score prediction / genomic prediction.
- Experience in participating in scientific research using a variety of statistical tools and software important to public health epidemiologic activities.
- Prior experience working at CDC preferred.
- Ability to obtain government clearance required.

Education and Training - Master's degree in Public Health or related degree, and advanced training in statistical genetics, bioinformatics, or closely related field is required. PhD preferred.
Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift 25 pounds occasionally.
