Position Description: |
A PUBLIC HEALTH INFORMATICS PROJECT MANAGER
The 100% work from home Public Health Informatics Project Manager has experience leading multi-disciplinary teams. This role will develop and maintain project management plans and schedules to track activities needed to meet project goals and objectives. This may include coordination and management of human resources, budgets, collaborative tools, and other activities needed to provide consultation and assistance on informatics activities for public health surveillance and laboratory data management dealing with federal, state and/or local governments across various public, non-profit and/or private organizations, agencies and institutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively communicate with national stakeholders of varied expertise and/or technical strengths to include collaboration across multi-functional teams to successfully accomplish project requirements. Engage project stakeholders and assist with project management, identifying risks and solutions for project implementation and support, and ensure milestones are met through post-go-live or per project requirements. Lead teams using client directed methods and/or PMI derived methods to develop documentation to support approach and delivery, tracking, collaborative tools and templates to ensure project goals are met. Provide project management activities following client policies and Project Management Institute (PMI) Body of Knowledge, which may include but are not limited to informatics business needs, project process agreements, project plans, work breakdown structure, project schedule, requirements, SOWs and public health information security considerations. Utilize project development methods that are appropriate for the scope of each project and approved by informatics program management, business owners and overall project stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree highly desired. Will accept applicants with less education if work experience is well established and represented on resume. 4-6 years' relevant on the job experience, advanced technical training and/or experience in health informatics. Previous experience as technical assistance and IT manager strongly desired. Experience working with federal, state, or local public health agencies or laboratories is preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. Experience using Project Management Institute (PMI) processes and tools. Experience with System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies. Demonstrated understanding of project management methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall. Demonstrated experience developing project management tools and artifacts such as: project charter, schedule, work breakdown structure, risk matrix, project management plan, etc. A demonstrated track record of driving cross- organizational projects to successful and measurable conclusion. Ability to plan, promote and develop public health projects/programs by stimulating activity and providing leadership.
